Amazing wildlife and the natural history of the Galapagos bring school outings to life

Educational travel broadens the mind, and nowhere may have a stronger impact on high school, prep school and college students than the Galapagos Islands.

Beyond the social interaction and improved global perspective that travel imparts on young travelers, being in the unique Galapagos Islands lets student tour participants get first-hand knowledge related to ecology, biology, environmental studies, conservation and natural history. You could consider the Galapagos National Park to be the world’s best open-air museum.

Galakiwi operates educational student tours in the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. With an emphasis on education first, these tours provide a mix of learning, with fun active adventures. Galakiwi works with school organizers, teachers, principals and professors to create custom student trips based on the specific interest and budget of each group.

When is the best time for a Student group tour to the Galapagos?

While July and August are especially busy for student groups from schools in the United States and Canada, Galakiwi says the Galapagos is an ideal year-round destination for student tours. April, May and September, October offer some great weather and wildlife conditions that work particularly well with school break times in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

What happens on a Galapagos Student and Educational Tour?

Incorporating volunteer work to combat invasive species, learning Spanish, or seeing how the islands are utilizing wind and solar energy are examples of how students can get involved, and get inspired, on an educational trip to the Islands.

Hiking up a volcano, kayaking with sea lions and snorkeling with sea turtles get students excited, while visiting the Charles Darwin Research Station and a Giant Tortoise Breeding Center provide an educational aspect to each tour.

Galakiwi specialises in arranging student group tours for small and large student groups wanting to visit the Islands and Ecuador.

While most student tours are 5-7 days long, custom trips can be as short as 3 days, or as long as 3 months. Surprisingly affordable, student tour costs are less than typical Galakiwi tours, as most student groups take advantage of more affordable housing and restaurant options.
